To celebrate the countdown to Paris 2024, Get Set to Eat Fresh challenged young people to get creative and design a healthy, balanced and tasty meal to fuel an Aldi Athlete Ambassador at Paris 2024.
We received just over 6,200 amazing recipes from young people in all corners of England, Scotland and Wales. Our panel of judges were blown away with the creativity of the entries, which included a veggie pasta in the shape of a rowing boat, tapas inspired by the colours of the Union Jack, and even a spinach and carrot ice cream!
After much hungry deliberation, the judges selected Jane, age 14, from All Hallows Catholic High School as the winner, for her prawn, avocado and aubergine sushi bowl design! Congratulations, Jane!
The judges loved how Jane had taken inspiration from ParalympicsGB wheelchair fencer Oliver Lam-Watson's love of sushi to create her eye-catching design, and how she considered all the essential food groups and nutrients that he would need to power him to medal winning success at the Games, too!
In fact, her design was so spot on, that Oliver couldn’t resist bringing it to life earlier this summer, before he headed to Paris...
Why not have a go at making Jane’s prawn, avocado and aubergine sushi bowl yourself, by following this special Get Set to Eat Fresh recipe, inspired by her design!
Alongside choosing Jane as the winner of the competition, the judges also selected 8 runners up from a shortlist, made up of the 20 best designs in the competition. Check these out in our shortlist spotlight!
Well done to all our winners and a big thank you to everyone who entered the Design a Meal Competition! We loved seeing all your designs and hope you all enjoyed taking part.
