Design a Lorry Competition Runners up!

In summer 2023, we challenged young people aged 5–14 to get creative and design an Aldi lorry that would inspire the UK to enjoy healthy, sustainable food. With over 12,000 entries from young people across the UK, and an incredibly high standard throughout, our judging panel of representatives from Team GB, ParalympicsGB and Aldi had a tough job on their hands to narrow them down.

Shortlisted entries, from which the prize winners were selected, featured brightly coloured fruit rainbows, punny slogans and even a sheep competing in a vegetable themed Olympic Games! Discover the designs from our runners up below, and join us in congratulating the other 18 shortlisted designers, who will each receive a certificate to commemorate their achievement.

See our celebration article to find out who won the competition, and how they reacted when they saw their designed lorries for the first time.

Second place winners

Taking home a £50 Aldi voucher, a Team GB and ParalympicsGB goody bag, and £750 for their school, are our second-place winners for England, Scotland and Wales: Freya, age 9, from Glenthorne Primary School, Heather, age 13, from Firrhill High School and Ellis, age 12, from Whitmore High School. British produce featured heavily in their designs, intertwined with interpretations of Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes competing in fun new sports, like carrot javelin and cereal bowl weightlifting!
